      Hi,

      I am currently setting up a Duet Wifi on a Cartesian CNC machine using external drivers (physical ports 5,6 & 7 for X, Y and Z axis). Therefore I am not using the built-in drivers and I have no heaters either (not a 3D printer but a CNC).

      My question is about how to apply power to the Duet Wifi board best. I have been using the USB port during the configuration process but once that is done ... do I need to apply 12 or 24 V power supply to the power screw terminals? Or just a microUSB phone charger can do the job?

      With the latter all seems to be ok, but I get an odd behaviour as the web page shows "Off" status while the machine is moving processigng g-code file while the XYZ coordinates keep on updating (and the Pause button appears ghosted so I could not momentarily pause the file being "printed").

      Maybe I am cutting corners powering it by USB?

      Thanks a lot,

      misan

        The firmware expects you to provide at least 10V for the drivers. That's why the status is shown as "off".

            @dc42,

            Is the pause button on the web interface being disabled now a consequence of my poor choice for power supply?

            Will that button is active once I power the board through the 12-24V power input?

            Thanks!

              Yes, the Paused state cannot be entered from the Off state.
