Question about G32
-
The results of G32 (i.e. bed.g) are not saved yet when the board is turned off. This will be implemented in a future firmware version though.

So is that why we need to execute a M500 command to save them to config-override.g?
Thanks.

I was running the "auto cal" procedure using a bed.g file that just reported the height errors. After the 1st and 2nd run things got better. After the 3rd run things got worse.
Is that normal?
I presume you mean that you used S-1 on the final G30 command instead of S6 or S8. If your printer construction is sound then you should get the same results from repeated runs using constant bed and extruder temperatures. If you are not getting consistent results, then either your Z probe is not triggering at a consistent height, or you have a G28 homing command in bed.g and your homing switched are not triggering at consistent positions, or your mechanics is not moving the head to consistent positions. To check whether the problem is the homing switches, remove the G28 and then see if the results are more consistent.
If you heat the bed and hot end to operating temperature, the results may change due to thermal expansion.

Thanks for the info.
I think there is too much play in the mounting of the effector plate.
It seems to have a lot of "wiggle" when I lightly grasp it with my hand.
Not sure how I'm going to fix that.

The usual way to fix play in the joints is with 2 springs between each pair of rods, one near each end. I also found it helpful to add a piece of elastic between the Bowden tube and the top frame, to help support the weight and reduce the amount of sideways force that the Bowden tube exerts.

I've seen pictures of those springs - I will get some and try them out.
I will also try out using elastic.
Thanks much.

Hairbands work double them around the arms and secure with a cable tie.

"Hairbands" - what are they?
Thanks.

Hairband are the little elasticated bands that girls use to tie their hair up sometimes they have a ball end on them but you just want the bare elastic ones they can be said to be a fabric covered elastic band
