    Hello,

i have trouble to home my Z-Axis. I calibrated my config according to the guide "Test and calibrate a Z probe" with the Paper-Method so i use G92 to have Z0 where the nozzle pins the Paper and then i probe the bad and get between 1.25 and 1.3 mm which i put in to my config. Wenn i move the bad then back to Z0 and i put a Paper between the Paper will pin again.

Wenn i then home the Z-Axis again for example after switching the power off shortly then the Z-Axis homes again to Z6,25 for example but when i move the bad to Z0 the Paper wont pin again actually there is a big gap between nozzel and bad.

in the first run befor homing again, for probing the bad, the prob goes really near the bad and trigger at 625 on the probe field in the web interface. But in the second homeing it just probe 100 and doesnt get anyway near as in the first probing?

Following i send my config and home, i hope someone can help me.

@juanito16k said in IR Sensor is not homing the Z-Axis correctly:

then i probe the bad and get between 1.25 and 1.3 mm which i put in to my config.

What command are your issuing to do that?

That is for configuring the probe.

To actually probe you use one of the G30 variants.

So which variant did you use?

          Thanks.

As you look to be on RRF3

The M558 command switch "probe type" needs to be set to P8 instead of P1

            IR Probe

With Duet 3 main board, expansion board or tool board: Connect the VCC, GND and OUT pins of the sensor to 3.3V, GND and IN respectively on an IO probe connector, and select mode 8 in the M558 command.

your surface is reflective and not dull.
that is not good for ir.

OK that variant is used to report what the Z trigger height is.

To set the Z=0 datum you want to use just G30.

Place a plain piece of paper on your bed and try testing again. As Veti says, your bed may not be very suitable for an IR sensor.

Ah yes, that would definitely do it.
