Their Bug, Our Bug or Just Is What It Is

You need to find the correct M569 T parameters for that controller. BigTreeTech should publish the following:
Minimum step high time (step pulse width)
Minimum step low time (step pulse interval)
Minimum direction-to-step setup time
Minimum step-to-direction hold timeThose values in microseconds should be used for the M569 T parameter.
If you can't find them, try something like 2:2:10:10.

Thank you for that information.
I have the chip datasheet and will be studying it.
Oddly enough it seems to be working fine with what ever the default T values are.
At least "working fine" in the sense that simple test prints come out fine with no sign of strange stepper behavior.
Thanks again.

For microcontroller-based controllers like that, it is usually the last T parameter (direction hold time) if any that causes the problem. The symptom if you get it too small is very small layer shifts.

I haven't had a chance to examine the datasheet but I will.
It's rather early to tell but the movement in XY for any given speed is very quiet compared to my other printers which are using typical steppers driven directly from the duet board.
I don't know if it is the driver, the nature of the "crossed rods" XY motion system or just the smaller size of the printer (build area roughly 200x200x200 compared to 300x300x300) but I am rather impressed with this little printer.

Frederick,
Do you have any new info on this.
I am planning a new big build with Nema 23 closed loop steppers.
But first I would like to test for cheap and planing to instal S42B boards on my China 2 trees sapphire, just to see how it goes with duet, external closed loop drivers etc. I already have external stepper breackuot board

MartinThe S42B's seem to be doing just fine, enough so that I ordered four more.
Closed loop on the cheap and no largish external driver to deal with.

@fcwilt You got set or drivers only. I have fancy 0.9 steppers on this and I would like to keep them

I got the set in the hope the pieces would work well together.

I will go without the motor to test , Could you share your config for these

Be glad to but I am traveling for the next couple of weeks.
