V12 column some times not showing 12V
-
Some times DWC in the V12 column it doesn't show 12V, I need to turn power off and back on then it corrects to display correct value of 12V. Should I be concerned?
-
@jsinicro, when it's not showing 12V, what does it show in that position?
Which Duet are you using, which firmware version, and which Duet Web Control version?
-
@dc42 Web control is 3.2 and firmware is 3.2 as well. When it doesn't show 12V it fluctuates from 4.5V-6.1V

@jsinicro which Duet is it? If it's Duet 3 MB6HC then it could be that you are overloading the 12V regulator. The 12V supply is intended for small brushless fans. Air pumps and similar devices using brushed DC motors will probably overloads it, at least while the motor starts up.

@dc42 this is an issue that I was having where I had the fan and pump on one of the 3HC expansion boards, but what was happening every time I turned the system on I had to unplug the pump and replug it in, then they both worked. Now I separated the fans are on one expansion board and one of the pumps is on the main board 6HC and the other pump is on the 2nd 3HC expansion board. When I turn the system on everything is up and running. The pumps are rated at 823mA, I tried to research the fans but could not find anything on them. Your reply makes sense as when it first starts up it probably tries to draw more than 823mA. These are 12V pump and fan kit and I was trying to add a voltage regulator to bring them down from and 24V output. Do you suggest I do that?

@jsinicro I suggest you either get a 24V pump; or use a buck regulator to provide a 12V supply capable of supplying 2A or more, connect the positive pump wire to that 12V supply and the negative pump wire to the OUT_NEG pin of your chosen OUT connector on the 3HC.

@dc42 Yes, all are running independently now and everything is stable, thankyou.
