Unsolved [6HC 3.4b3] Chamber Heater Faults
-
Ever since 3.4b3, we are experiencing a lot of chamber heater faults with the temperature rising too slowly. It takes 20~30 minutes to heat a chamber from room temp to 70c.
I know there were some changes to heater faults in this release. I'm not reporting a defect here exactly, but more looking for ideas on how to get around this. We already have the deadtime set to the maximum (350).
I've left a printer running for ~4 hours trying to tune the chamber heater and don't think it's going to finish.
Does anyone have any ideas on what settings to try if tuning won't complete? And for the record, @dc42, we never experienced a heater fault before 3.4b3. Do you think it's not honoring the deadtime? It's certainly rising 1 degree within the 350s..
Thanks

Can you post the heater portion of the config and give some details on the heater itself?

I remember trying to tune it in the past but wasn't successful, so we just left it as. And I really don't remember how we settled on these values other than figuring out max deadtime is 350.

This has always worked in the past, but ever since upgrading a few of our printers to 3.4b3, there is about a 50/50 chance it will fault for heating too slowly when heating up the first time.
Also, these are 250w 120v forced air PTC resistor heaters controlled by an SSR.
Suggestions? We see the new R value for M307, but could only guess at what to use. Could adding a low-value R assist? Thanks

There have been some other heater fault issues reported as well and it's under investigation.

@phaedrux but are there any suggestions on how to form M307 for a chamber heater in the meantime? Here are the faults from this AM - no way it should be expecting it to rise 2.4c per second..!

@dc42 - I just wanted to make sure you saw this. Every machine we've upgraded to 3.4b3 are experiencing at least one chamber heater fault (below) when heating from room temp. As a recap, we have never been able to tune a chamber heater, so our M307 is quite basic. Perhaps this could be resolved through mock tuning it, but we never experienced this prior to applying 3.4b3. Thanks
