Controlling relay module with Duet 3
-
I have a Duet 3. I am trying to control a relay module with it. I thought it would just involve using one of the out7, out8 or out9 pins by connecting the positive of one of these to the inputs of the relay module. But the relay switches immediately as soon as I connect the positive of the out7 pin to the relay input. How do I wire this?

@anagh Maybe this is helpfull to you. I control a relay with a power module. https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/26396/connecting-lerdge-power-monitoring-module-did-i-do-well?_=1639784083332
Normal open en normal close are how they respond to signal.

@frankv I did try to connect the relay to the GPIO pin but it did not switch the relay. I am guessing that is because the GPIO pins do not put out enough current to switch the relay.

@anagh I see they are 12V so I don't know if the switching power is also 12V. I don't assume that. Do you feed them with 12 volt to the coil? You can try to use the GPIO for signal. Should work. You can test it with an external power supply or buck.
From the info it should work because you put it also low.
- DC +: 12V positive power supply
- DC-: negative power connection
- IN1-IN8: each way based on the settings , can be high or low to control the corresponding relay

@frankv that is exactly what i tried. if i connect out7 (or out8) to the input, the relay immediately turns on and never turns off even when i switch off out7.
if i use io0.out (or other io outputs), the relay does not switch at all. -

Here is what worked for me. I used a 5 pin relay which has 2 terminals for inputs. Made my life much easier.
