Hello I have a question If I run 4 steppers to control single axis but 2 motors will be connected to the main board and the other 2 will be connected to an expansion board such as 3HC board will this cause any delays or latency between the motors since all 4 are synced to control 4 motors. Thank you

@moe-adams9093 the only likely issue is that when you home that axis and the homing switch is triggered, the motors connected to the expansion board are likely to stop slightly later than the motors connected to the main board because of CAN bus latency. With RRF 3.4rc1 and later, the motors connected to the expansion board will then move back of necessary so that they have executed the same number of microsteps as the other motors.

@dc42 I have another question how about if I have 4 closed loop stepper using 1xd board all 4 board synced to control single axis and each motor have its own endstop will this cause any delays between all 4 motors as well. I’m building a large machine and I’m trying to see what’s the best option before I make any transaction I have used duet maestro and duet 2 Ethernet in the past but I’m fist curious about using CAN FD communication Thank you
