Feeder without grinding the filament
-
Hello all,
i'd like to ask if somebody knows a good bowden feeder (extruder) which does not grind or cut into the filament? I'm looking for a solution which feeds the filament with rolls or a belt... or another "filament friendly transport system".thanks in advance

@cosmowave You'd be quite surprised at just how much force is required to push filament into a hot end. Which is why most extruders use some form of "hobbed bolt" in order to get a firm grip on the filament. Better designs such as those from Bondtech have deep grooves which bite well into filament, use two hobbed bolts, and don't rely too much on spring tension. But if you try and push filament through at a faster rate than the hot end can melt and extrude it, it will grind the filament. However, a "solution" which doesn't grip the filament as firmly, will simply slip. Either way, you won't be able to print successfully so the best thing to do is fix the reason why the filament is being ground away rather than extruding properly.
