Separation of Tool Selection from Heater Temperature
-
I have a 2 in 1 out Y Splitter (like the Prusa MMU) on an i3 with Duet Wifi.
When I am not printing, I might want to do a filament/ tool change.
I would like to heat my nozzle and keep it at temperature, and then either select T0, T1, or deselect them in the UI - and me tfree and tpost scripts run accordingly.
However, with no Tool selected (ie: I have just heated up then deselected a tool), the heater stops heating (by design it seems).
I would like to be able to maintain temps while I manually control the printer.
While setting the standby temps to the same as the active temps might do what I need, it is more clicking (entering the same temp value into 4 boxes instead of 2), and then I would have to set it all to 0 when I am done. Please help me understand how all this is supposed to work. I have read most if not all of the wiki at this point. I understand the intent of the Tool select/ deselect and how it will work during a print job, but as far as having a UI for manual manipulation of the printer, it seems a bit counterintuitive.
Thank you!

If you have a reason for wanting to heat the hot end without selecting an extruder, why not define a 3rd tool that uses the same heater but no drives?
