Duet 3 Mini 5 with 8 fans
-
I need a bit of information on the VFD pin and a sanity check on the rest. I think this should work, does anyone see any issues I am missing ?
I am building a Voron 2.4r2. I want to add active chamber heating by adding fans under the bed to distribute heat to the chamber more efficiently. Many have successfully done this and I am using a published mod to add 4 - 4015 fans to the chamber. The problem is that the Duet 3 Mini 5 only has 4 fan inputs (Out 3, Out 4, Out 5, and Out 6). The configurator seems to indicate I can also use the VFD pins for a fan but I have not found any documentation on that. The bed on the Voron is 110V and will be connected with a 24vdc to 110vac SSR.
So, my plan is as follows:
Heaters:
Out 1 = Hot End Heater
Out 2 = Bed Heater
Fans
Out 3 = Parts Cooling Fan
Out 4 = Hot End Cooling Fan
Out 5 = Electronics Cooling Fan 0
Out 6 = Electronics Cooling Fan 1
FVD = Not Sure can some one tell me if this can be used for a fan and if it can how should it be wired? As a result, I have Out 0 open because I am not powering the bed with it. Therefore, I would like to connect 4 fans, using a header, to this power source so all 4 chamber fans can be controlled with a P1000 probe on Temp 3.
Thanks for any assistance.

@JADoglio the VFD output is controlled by the same microcontroller output as OUT6 as described at https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_3_family/Duet_3_Mini_5+_Hardware_Overview so you can't use both.
You can use OUT0 to drive fans as you are not using it to control a heater.

@dc42 Thanks. I did read that and I thought that would be the case but I wasn't sure and wanted to check. Appreciate the quick response.
