PanelDue RADDS compatibility
-
I'd like to buy a 5" PanelDue for use with RADSS/DUE combo but I'm not sure of the actual status of compatibility and support (present and future).
RepRapFirmware (1.19.2) is working great in my delta setup. The setup and tunning process has been a little bit difficult but at the end was worth it.
In the future I'm planing to move to a Due Ethernet controller but the first step could be to add a PanelDue and make upgrades form there (IR sensor, effector, controller, …).Could someone confirm if PanelDue will work 'out of the box' with the RADDS/Due?
Is there any limitation (SD card speed, interface, ...)?
Is there (and will be) any official support for RepRapFirmware for RADDS/Due + PanelDue?Thanks in advance,
Javier. -
PanelDue should work as-is with a Due/RADDS that is running RepRapFirmware. However, the cable you need is different because of the different pinout on RADDS. If you don't want to use the SD card socket on the PanelDue TFT panel, then there are only 4 wires so it should be straightforward. If you do want to use the SD card socket, then there are an additional 5 wires, so it's going to be a little more complicated. I believe there are existing users running PanelDue with RRF on RADDS, but I don't know whether any of them are using the SD card socket on PanelDue.

Thanks for your quick reply and for your support to RADDS users (thumbs up!). At the end I'd probably upgrade to the whole Duet package.

Does the SD card slot then take the place on the one on the RADDS or in addition to? Is there a performance hit for using it?
Thanks,

It looks to me that the RADDS build of RRF is set up to support 2 SD cards. However, the same card detect pin seem to have been used for both of them. I don't know whether anyone has tried to use the SD card slot on PanelDue with RADDS.
