I suspect my X-axis driver is dying and want to remap it to use the E1 motor.

I tried this but now the X+10 moves X and Y and Y+10 does exactly the same

If all you've done is move the connector and then re-map the drive, then you probably need to reverse the motor direction for the drive that you have just moved using M569. You are quite sure that you didn't update the firmware from an earlier version than 1.19 at the same time yes? To be safe, follow the instructions here https://www.duet3d.com wiki/Configuring_RepRapFirmware_for_a_CoreXY_printer

Edit….......or it could be a bad crimp on the stepper connector that got dislodged when the plug was moved.

The M584 command can be after the M569 commands in config.g, must be before other commands that apply to drivers such as M906 and M350. Otherwise those commands won't be applied to the new X motor driver.

Because the release notes say this:

Important! On a CoreXY machine, if upgrading from a version prior to 1.19beta9, you need to reverse the Y motor direction in the M569 command. Similarly for CoreXYU machines.

Ah I see, sorry I was already on 1.19 and went to 1.20rc1.

It's at the top, so is that OK?

Your config.g looks fine to me. Are you still having problems? If so check movement as per the link I posted. If only one motor turns, movement will be at 45 degrees. Going back to your original post, I note that you suspected that your X axis driver was dying. Maybe it's the motor or wiring and not the driver? But then, what was happening that made you suspect a faulty driver?
