      Hey all,
      I just received my first 23CL with brake, I'll begin testing it on my system soon (very pumped).
      A couple questions for the Duet3D Team:

      • Are the board pinouts going to be released soon?

      • Were there any thoughts about I/O? It's hard to tell from looking at the board inside whether I could attach an endstop...

      • Are the functions of the brake abstracted or can they be configured like a normal brake setup? Specifically:

        • Is the brake release delay configurable like a normal brake configuration?
        • How can I release the brake for manual moving of axis?
      • If the 23CL is the last board in the CAN chain, is there a way to set a termination resistor without making a patch on the cable coming out of the M8 connector?

      • Other boards with the RJ11 have a clear daisy-chain routing pattern, what is the recommended way to connect multiple 23CL on a large machine? I was thinking about using a tool distribution board?

      • Any updates on the nema17 version?

          • The external connector pinouts are at https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_3_family/Duet_3_Motor_23CL#connection-diagram.

          • There is an unpopulated connector J5 on the board inside. Here is the pinout for that connector:

            You could connect an endstop switch between IO_0_IN and GND and address it in the firmware as pin "xx.io0.in" where xx is the CAN address of the motor.

          • The brake release delay is configurable.

          • The brake is controlled automatically. If you want to move the motor manually then I suggest you use M17 to energise the driver and release the brake, and M906 to set the current to zero (you will still get a small amount of current but it should be low enough to allow you to move the motor).

          • Underneath the CAN connector there is a pair of pads that can be shorted to terminate the CAN bus.

          • We expect most users of the 23CL to be OEMs who will use their own wiring solution; however we are looking at doing a new version of the Tool Distribution Board to help individual users and prototype builders wire multiple 23CL motors.

          • We don't have any news on a Nema 17 version yet. In order to keep costs down we will likely need to limit it to 32V rather than 48V.
