Hello my name is Daryl. (Larry is just fine, thank you)
I am in the process of building a 4 cubic foot 3d printer. I am looking for the best controller on the market. I have multiple hot zones, all motors except for extruder will be Nema 23 (minimum 285ozin). X,Y and Z will be Ballscrews for more accuracy. There will be two Z motors. I have .25 temperedglass on top of 4- 12x12x.25 Aluminum plate, which is setting on top of more layers including a silicone layer.
Well that just part of the build, but one of my main questions is whether Duet3d can support multiple heat zones, and have enough processing power to run fast and keep accuracy at the same time. I know it can handle the motors with its built in drivers. Can someone let me know what type of speed they are running, keeping accuracy. Also what hot end do you recommend.

      Thank you

@darylprice Hi Larry, My name is Jacob, and I have quite a bit of experience with the Duet ecosystem and use them as my preferred motherboard/control board supplier.
I have used them for various machines ranging from tiny sub 100x100x100mm print volumes all the way up to 650x650x800mm Nema23 powered machines. My go to machines are all Duet powered, and have a build volume of 330x390x440, with print speeds of 600mm/s and accelerations of >6,000mm/s^2

The Duet ecosystem is more than capable of extreme high end printing and is fully user configurable. And yes, it can support multiple heat zones!

I would recommend looking at the Duet36HC. As for the nozzle, you will almost definitely want something with a very high flow for a large print volume. I would look at the Vez3D Goliath, and replacing its standard nozzle with a CHT nozzle for extra flow rate.

I'll add here that for builders of custom 3D printers, one important criteria for the board selection can be the quality of the support and community. In my view, Duet3D is unsurpassed in this measure. This forum has a lot of thoughtful and helpful members and is actively supported by the Duet3D engineering team. I've gotten lots of valuable advice and guidance that made my 3D printer (coreXY, NEMA23, 250mm x 300mm x 250mm) design/build much more successful.
