3 point bed leveling with 4 stepper motors
-
Hello,
i have a duet 2 and am planning on upgrading the board to a duet 3. when i originally built my printer, i attempted (despite multiple warnings) to use 4 point bed leveling. after much gnashing of teeth, i changed it around to 3 point leveling using the 4 motors i had installed. 2 of the z stepper motors have a bar going between them that is linked, and has the pivot in the middle, and in the middle of the bed. i use the z axis connector for these 2 motors so they move synchronously.
the duet 3 doesn't have a stepper connector like this, just 6 drivers. is it possible to use 2 drivers and map them to one screw (for lack of a better term) in the 3 point system using firmware? or would it be easier to make a splitter cable or adapter board for these 2 motors?

Is there a size requirement that makes you want to use 4 motors instead of just 3?
I assume you have a driver for X Y and extruder, leaving only 3 for Z. Perhaps it would make sense to add a toolboard for the extruder, freeing up a driver for the 4th Z.
If you really want to stick with two motors on a single driver, see here for wiring them in series to a single driver.
