I have plugged in my Thermocouple board and changed config file to include
      M305 P1 X100

      i always get a reading of 2000C

no fault light coming up on the themocouple board.

i have disconected the themocouple, still no fault light
also shorted the input pins, no fault light.

      any help?

Unless it's the older type of thermocouple board, you need X150 not X100.
