Potentially dead duet?
-
Hi all, having some trouble with the duet Ethernet today.
I can't access the web portal and following these instructions here: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/What_to_do_if_your_Duet_won't_respond
the blue 3.3V LED does not light (even with nothing plugged into the board).
Is this faulty?
-
The 3.3V LED is green. The blue one is the VIN LED. Which LEDs are working?
-
I'm getting a Vin LED and a 5V LED with nothing plugged in. With the hotend plugged in (and the board powered from the psu) I'm getting the same but with a heat light.
-
@dc42 Still no luck today - I cant think of anything that could have damaged the board though, cant find any shorts either.

@edchamberlain, are any of the ICs on the Duet getting hot (in particular U2), or the WiFi module? Does U2 look damaged?
What type of Z probe are you using, and how is it wired?
-
@dc42 Nothing noticeably warm to the touch (this is an Ethernet model so no wifi module - no activity lights on the Ethernet module port or on my network switch for the port - have tried different cables and different ports).
Z probe is currently unplugged - was using a servo with a IR gate.

If the 3.3V LED is not lit, then unless the LED has failed the 3.3V supply is missing. You could confirm this with a multimeter, if you have one.
In similar cases I have investigated, U2 and U11 were getting hot, and the pattern of blown chips indicated that the +5V rail or the +3.3V rail had been shorted to a fan or heater connection.
