Testing part of a printer

I am in the process of building a new machine but would like to test the hotend heater and fan(s) without having any other components (steppers, stops etc) connected. Will the board allow this or do I need everything installed ?.

That is a good way to commission a printer, and the firmware will allow you to do it.
