About to feel real foolish, but I have to ask anyway. What is the purpose of an end stop on the extruder? Never had one, so I am not putting it together my head.

They are used to connect filament sensors and push button for triggering predefined actions. See the M591 and M581 commands.

Very cool! So if I create a small device that the filament runs through and when it runs low the micro switch opens or closes to stop the print job until I can change filament spools. I like that!!! No more checking every five minutes when I know I am at the end of the spool.
