how to make a backup of the firmware or configs?

If my sd card died im going to have to reconfigure the firmware from scratch. Is there anyway to easily backup the firmware or the config files so if the sd card dies i can load the firmware and be up and running again? Thanks also is there a easy way of figuring out how much storage is left on the sd card? thanks.

I think all you do, is in system, select all files, and select (save as ZIP) then hit ( upload system files) and select your ZIP.
I just made a backup just because right now.

You can also make a copy of everything on the card by putting it in a PC or Mac and copying the files.
The firmware itself once updated is actually on the board, not the SD card. The bin files on the SD card are just left over as backups.
