Total noob on this board so I'd appreciate some help. I have firmware 1.18.1 installed.

I was following the instructions to update and one section tells me to change the file DuetCombinedFirmware.bin to DuetEthernetFirmware.bin.

After finding I can't connect to Web Control I followed the instructions under Fallback 1 where I alter the files on the card by putting it into my pc. These instructions also say that the file MUST be exactly called DuetCombinedFirmware.bin, so which is right.

Next the instructions say to delete 3 files from /sys Duet2CombinedFirmware.bin, DuetMaestroFirmware.bin, DuetEthernetFirmware.bin but none of these exist in /sys they are in the own folders titled by the firmware name in the root folder. So again, which is right.

I'm assuming I will be able to connect to web control once this is done but can I have some pointers how to connect, is 10.1.1.13 in my browser? I use Chrome

      Thanks

For the Duet 0.8.5 you need RepRapFirmware.bin. See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Firmware_Overview#Section_Duet_Generation_1_Duet_06_and_Duet_Num_085

Hi thanks for the input and there is obviously some good info on that link but I'm afraid it doesn't answer any of the questions I posed. Sorry.

@chrishamm I managed to connect via Web Control and successfully updated the firmware but there was a small problem after the installation was complete. A Javascript error was thrown up, I was going to copy and paste it but it rolled off the screen before I could copy it. It said because of the error it would close the browser but it didn't, it also said report it to you so I have ...

If you have updated the firmware from 1.18 but you haven't yet updated Duet Web Control, then your old version of DWC is probably not compatible with the new firmware. You can move the SD card to a PC and extract the new DWC files into the /www folder.

@dc42 Thanks Dave, I did that before I connected. I'm all updated now but I'm not sure which copy of iap4e.bin to update with, I was directed to two versions but not sure which was which. What version number is the latest and how do I find it?

@dc42 I'm assuming I can just drag the iap4e onto the sd card for it to be installed?

Yes. It needs to be in the /sys folder.

@dc42 That's excellent, Thanks very much Dave.

Looking forward to some virtually silent printing 🙂
