Upgrade Duet wifi to ethernet?
-
Hi,
I have had almost no joy with my Duet WiFi board. First board: WiFi was simply dead Second board: Wifi worked for exactly 2 days, then died. THIRD board - wifi is working perfectly, BUT drops out every 6 seconds (I've timed it). That's if I can manage to get the Web screen at all (most of the time, no luck). I can ping the IP address. I've tried two routers. Every now and then, I can get into the web interface, and everything seems to work nicely. And then, just when I think everything is great, the connection is lost, and I'm in no-man's land again.I bought this board because I heard it was the duck's nuts. Well, if you are one of the lucky ones, yes. But three boards in a row? What's the story with the WiFi module anyway? Typing "WiFi connection issues" into the forum search turns up 52 pages!
Quite frankly, I've had it with this WiFi board. How can I "convert" the board into an ethernet board? Is there a daughter board I can plug in? I certainly don't want to start soldering the board itself. Because at this rate, I might as well return to the little board which comes standard with my Ender 3 - at least that worked first time, every time.

@duncan-rtfm without soldering you can not convert Wifi to Ethernet.
About you wifi problems maybe you router is finicky and doesn't like Duet?
For most users WiFi works fine and even for that that have problems it almost every time get's resolved so don't suggest with "52 pages of WiFi connection issues". Wi-Fi on Duet works fine.
You could post some more on info:- What is you router and wi-fi settings on it.

@duncan-rtfm, have you read and worked through https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/WiFi_disconnections_and_AJAX_timeout_errors ? In particular, check the RSSI reported by the Duet.

I have worked my way through the doc you pointed me to - with no change. I don't seem to be violating anything, or outside any parameters.
I have actually decided to give up on the WiFi, and have placed an order for the Maestro - that's how much I like the web interface. I will tackle the WiFi board on another day when I have recovered some of my original enthusiasm for WiFi. At the moment, I just want to get printing. My Ender 3 has been idle for 3 months now.
I am hoping that the Maestro will neatly side-step these issues, and allow me to make contact with the web interface and get printing again.
Thanks for your help,
Regards,

@duncan-rtfm Sorry to hear you're having such bad luck with wifi.
I think you'll like the Ender 3 and Maestro combo. They are very well matched.
