Unresponsive system

To begin with our Duet3D and PanelDue system was functioning well, and was able to operate the printer and run gcode from the SD card. But now on startup it gets stuck on the screen below and is unable to do anything such as reading the SD card, controlling the motion of the printer or even communicating with a laptop running Yat via a usb.
We have tried disconnecting everything and restarting it, but the same problem persists. We had previously set up a wifi access point, but were unable to reach the web interface with the IP address. The problem appeared to start when the stop button on the LCD screen was pressed, with this problem then occurring upon restart after that.
Any ideas as to what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated, as at this stage we have been unable to narrow down where the issue may be occurring. Is it likely to be a software or a hardware issue?
Also what does the 'connecting' in the top right corner of the screen refer to, as I think this may have said something else when it was working, but cannot remember for certain.
Thanks for the help!

Please work through https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/What_to_do_if_your_Duet_won't_respond.
"Connecting" in PanelDue means that it has sent status requests to the Duet but it hasn't yet received a response.
