Connectors for hotend wires
-
Hi,
I recently bought a 2nd smart effector and I was thinking of combining all the wires that go to the hotend into one big connector to make the swapping action of the effector even faster.
I really like the simplicity of ribbon cables, but they of course have their own problems with lacking flexibility and too thin wires.
I wonder if there is something like a ribbon cable but with thicker gauge wire?Or should i just use a ATX 20pin molex connector?
PS: btw does someone know a resource where all the molex types are listed and described. I still have trouble finding specific connectors, like the plug on the underside of the smart effector that connects the thermistor to the pcb. there are just way too many types to effectivly google them

there are several post on this forum about using cat cables.
the rj45 connectors should be fine for everthing except the heater.
check the wire gauge of the cat cable if they are big enought for the hotend, there are several different ones.for the hotend you could use something like XT60 connectors.

never thought about cat cables, but that makes total sense.
i found this which looks pretty convenient.
