Dual Magnetic filament sensor and Endstop limitations/mapping
-
Hey there, I have a Duet2 Ethernet + Duex5. So I have a ton of "Endstop" ports on Duex not even being used. I just ordered 2 Magnetic Filament sensors and was looking at the need for the endstops for the filament detector to be on the Duet. Well I have a XYZU Axis on my IDEX printer and have a ZMax sensor I use now and then as well as a BLTouch. This fills all but one on my Duet. I can remove the Zmax I guess, but I do like using it in scripts to home to the max position and not cause the table to bottom out.
Is there a way to move some of these to the Duex to open up the Duet endstop positions (at least the Zmax opening up 2 of the ports (E0 and Z I believe) for the Filament sensors?
I am not seeing any way to do mappings for endstops.

There are two endstop inputs on CONN_LCD. I suggest you use those for your filament monitors. See the table at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Using_external_stepper_motor_drivers for the pinout.
Using recent firmware versions, it's possible to use DueX inputs for endstops, although the latency is higher and there is a risk of the endstop not working if I2C communication breaks down. So it's safer to use the CONN_LCD inputs.
