I can talk to the maestro vis usb/com using YAT.
But the display always says connecting.
triest another 5i display, same result.anything else to try?
P.S. Have also used Bossa to reload firmware.

confirm baud rate on paneldue and in maestro config.g? (and how is it wired up?)
-
did you create a menu? there is no default menu for the maestro.

see
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_an_LCD_control_panelwith the mention of 5i and bossa I think its a PanelDue and not a 12864 display?

you are right
-
@lukas-aurarum How is your PanelDue connected to the Maestro? 4-wire cable or ribbon cable? Check cable orientation is correct, post picture of connections if possible.

yes with 4 wire cable.
its not the baud rate.
swapping board out tmr and see whats going on.

If you have a USB-TTL adapter (with 3.3v I/O!) you can connect try talking to the Duet and PanelDue individually to try and narrow down which side isn't doing their job.
PanelDue should send
M408 S0
regularly (i think). The Duet should respond if you send it the same code. -
My guess it that it's the cable. If you connect a PC running YAT or Pronterface etc. to the Duet via USB and send M111 S1 P3, then every command received by the Duet will be echoed to USB. If the Duet is receiving data from the 5i then you should see "aux: M408" lines regularly.
