      Hi
I'm installing the mini height sensor with a Duet 0.85 on a Wanhao I3 . The I3 currently died a z stop.switch. Do I just disconnect the switch when I connect up the sensor. Presumably they would work against each other.
      Many thanks

        You have a choice:

        1. Keep the Z switch for Z homing, and use the IR sensor just for bed probing.

        2. Use the IR sensor for Z homing as well as for bed probing. To do this you need to change your homeall.g and homez.g files. See https://duet3d.com/wiki/Configuring_RepRapFirmware_for_a_CoreXY_printer#Homing_files.

Will this homing process be covered if I make the adjustments in the web configuration or do I need to change the file manually? Also is it conceivable that the IR probe will work with 3.3 v instead of 5? The light is dimmer on my unit now and I cannot effect any change or make it sense anything in front of it (indexable sensor) DuetWifi

The IR sensor works equally well on 3.3V or 5V although the LED is not as bright. Check your wiring, see https://duet3d.com/wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe#Mini_differential_IR_sensor_by_dc42.

This is the link to the IR sensor that I have the IR sensor is registering the amount of "feedback" that it is getting BUt it never goes over 500 and it never switches off, I have a PNP sensor: http://www.electronicaestudio.com/docs/SHT-015d.pdf

Wired as you instruct I have the VDC on Pin 6 and I have the ground and neutral both on the z end stop.

I was assuming that you were using the mini IR sensor that I manufacture, which is available from duet3d.com and Duet distributors as well as direct from my Escher3D web site. The probe you link to may not work with a 3.3V supply. See the section on connecting a Z probe in the wiki, in particular the sections on connecting PNP and NPN output sensors.

Also looking at the spec of it it has a sense range adjustable between 3-80cm
