I have read through the documentation at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Smart_effector_and_carriage_adapters_for_delta_printer several times while waiting for the effector to arrive, but now that I have the bot disassembled, I have some questions...

It appears that the "under side" connections all originate from the extruder itself, while the "top side" connections all originate from the Duet (or whatever) board. On this particular printer, the fans and the thermistor and the heater block all wire straight to the Duet board from the old extruder. I am replacing the fans with quieter ones.

So if I am understanding correctly, I would need to (for example) cut my thermistor cables to wire thermistor cartridge -> TEMP on underside, and E0_TEMP on the Duet to pins 2&3 of the signal connector? There is no one-for-one correlation here, since new connectors are being introduced?

I just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious before I cut wires and spend hours terminating new cabling, and that this is the right way to go about it.

      Thanks!

Yah, you've got it. As a general rule, things on the Smart Effector itself on the bottom connectors, and the top ones go all the way back to the Duet.

        Slice and dice away!

You are on the right track.

There's a conversion here: http://danalspub.com/ Although that was the 'stock' effector, it may answer some other questions.

For the smart effector, this specific section is what you need: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Smart_effector_and_carriage_adapters_for_delta_printer#Section_Connectors_and_Wiring

@Danal Thanks, I actually used your blog to install my Duet, it made the process much, much easier (and a lot less scary).

I have read through that wiki page a few times, I just wanted to get confirmation from anyone who has been in a similar situation that one does, indeed, need to slice and dice some wiring to perform this upgrade.

            Thanks!
