Not sure where to put this, so I'm sticking it in General.. please move if there is a better category.

We are using Duet 3 / RPi combos with toolboards. Today we experienced an issue with the hot end thermistor connected to toolboard during a print. The heat was properly turned off, but the print continued..

My expectation is that the print would pause. Is this not the case?

      Thanks

            Thanks for the report.

What error message did you get from the heater fault?

Is the error lost after a reboot? I was printing with a PC blend at 300c and when the fault happened, the temp dropped to -273c and the hot end fan stopped. I quickly converted the fan from thermostatic to manual, and then rebooted to get it back running..

-273 would mean open circuit on the sensor.

It depends on if you had dwc open in the browser at the time of the fault and reboot it may still show in the console.

I do have the log and just reviewed it closely. There is not an error - it shows the start of my print and then the emergency stop.. nothing in between.

And yes, it was an open circuit. One of the thermistor wires got caught on something and came loose..

Not always so, when I first booted after I updated to 3.2 firmware I received the same display of -273 in both bed & hot end with no open circuit(s) after I manually clicked on 0 and rebooted the board the board displayed 0 as normal after that.

Expected behaviour is "Heater faults shut down the heater and pause the print for a configurable amount of time. If there is no user intervention then when the timeout expires the printer is shut down."
