Yeah I could see how that could be problematic. Could you try adding a piece of dark matte tape it for a less shiny textured surface?

I think i'll put a black shrink tube on top of the rod to see how that goes.
But I grinded it more with a dremel to remove all shininess and so far it hasn't faulted on me (I shouldn't jinx myself..)
We'll see tomorrow!
After 7.5h of printing, I have this:
Duet3D laser filament monitor v2 on pin io3.in, enabled, allow 1% to 500%, check every 8.0mm, version 2, quality 224, brightness 63, shutter 123, measured min 145% avg 223% max 243% over 43342.3mm -
2 successful prints in 48h. Very happy so far! I get a good reading with the dremel grinded rod.
Now I need to make the same thing on my other 2 printers to get reliable results hehe.
