Duet 2 Wifi heater config question

  • Howdy y'all,

I have an issue with H1 on my board - a piece of ferrule broke off inside and I can't get it out. Is there a way to configure the printer to use H2 instead of H1? This is my first Duet board so apologies if this is super easy.

  • @mpsanders
    yes.

in rrf3 you just change the line

    M950 H1 C"e0heat" T1 ; create nozzle heater output on e0heat and map it to sensor 1

    to

    M950 H1 C"e1heat" T1 ; create nozzle heater output on e0heat and map it to sensor 1

  • Howdy Veti,

Thank you very much for the reply. I am on fw version 2.0.5, which is what the online configurator gave me as the latest available. The m950 command does not appear to be supported in this version. Is there an analogous command in 2.0.5? I looked at the process to upgrade to rrf3 and I think it's going to take me a while to figure out. Again, sorry for the noob questions - I will learn.

If your printer is rather basic you could update to RRF3 and generate a new config using the online tool for RRF3.

Otherwise, if you want to stick with RRF2, post your config.g so we can tell you exactly what to change.

This is what the config tool provides me when I tell it to use heater 1 for tool0.

Note that these heater settings may not match yours, they are just the defaults.

    ; Heaters
    M305 P0 T100000 B4138 R4700 ; set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 0
    M143 H0 S120 ; set temperature limit for heater 0 to 120C
    M305 P1 T100000 B4138 R4700 ; set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 1
    M143 H1 S280 ; set temperature limit for heater 1 to 280C
    M305 P2 T100000 B4138 R4700 ; set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 2
    M143 H2 S280 ; set temperature limit for heater 2 to 280C

    ; Tools
    M563 P0 D0 H2 F0 ; define tool 0

The main thing to note is that it configured a bed heater and 2 hotend heaters, and then in the tool definition it uses heater 2.

  • Howdy Phaedrux,

Thank you for the info! The printer is an FLSUN Q5 delta printer - I imagine that I will need to update it to rrf3 at some point, just got a bit overwhelmed reading all of the commands I'll need to change and whatnot - but I don't have any special attachment to version 2. If I can get it working for now that would be cool, but if it's necessary to update to rrf3 first I'll give that a go. Here is my current config.g:

Well you'd need to add the second heater to the heaters section.

    M305 P2 T100000 B4138 R4700 ; set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 2
    M143 H2 S280 ; set temperature limit for heater 2 to 280C

And then change H1 to H2 in the tool definition.

    ; Tools
    M563 P0 D0 H2 F0 ; define tool 0

  • That got it going, thank you very much!
