So i upgraded to duet 3 from duet 2 and i get an Unkonwn Usb Device (device Descriptor request failed) in device manager. I tried to install the new driver but i just get back the best drivers for your device are already installed.

I put in my Sd card from the duet 2 and get the same thing. Is my board bad?

@patterson6 Not neccesarily. You need to try different usb cables and usb ports.

Unless you wiped the firmware with the reset jumpers it ships with firmware already installed. It's an ethernet device so you should be able to connect it to your network, and provide it an SD card with the DWC files in /www and a config file set in /sys and as long as you have it configured to obtain a DHCP IP address you should be able to reach it on the network.

Why do you need to connect it to your PC in the first place?

The Duet 3 draws a bit more power I think and sometimes usb ports that worked with older boards simply don't work with the Duet 3. Sometimes using a USB hub works well, ideally a powered hub.

Duet 3 MB6HC uses a high speed USB port, which is fussier about the USB cable than Duet 2.

Thanks everyone! It works! I Removed the duet 3 from the printer and just used the 3 foot USB cable and it worked. I guess it didn't like the 12ft USB extension cable i was using.

I find that USB extension cables don't work with the MB6HC for programming with Bossa, although I have managed to use them for controlling the board using YAT.
