Hi,
don't wanna rain on your parade, but naked PCBs without paste-mask are hard to populate.
So everyone interested would have to buy one, which adds to the bill. (without ordering the PCB from the same shop)
Not to mention the prices for parts, when ordering small amounts.
A group buy would be interesting, if someone would be able to populate and reflow them? But then there's the question about warranty.... -
@o_lampe I like opensource, because it brings so many questions which finally moves things forward.
Everyone likes opportunity...Believe or not, people in a lab I work can populate similar things without reflow or paste mask. Yes one board takes one day... but the costs can worth for me and others.
Regarding BOM, one piece is not 100% efficient, but there is a lot of space in the original's cost for such inefficiency. Two boards are a lot better and three are 90% efficiency of 10.
I am unsure if it is fair to share my BOM here. This is opensource project (thank you!) but I have respect for authors and they need our support not concurrence. So no clones, no parallel kickstart actions... BOM costs and manufacturing costs are questionable.
I will have BOM costs done in a month or two (I have other priorities). Then I can share some numbers.
Now I hope others could share my passion.

I've done that in the past myself, but we had a vapor phase oven and a manual pick and place machine. But I can't imagine populating a bord without having solder paste applied (with a paste mask)
