I updated the Panel Due firmware (v3) to the latest and when its connected to my PC the panel starts fine and all the controls work. When I plug it into my duet it stays black when the duet starts.

Am I missing a step here? The wiring is correct ive changed nothing, all I did was remove it to update the firmware.

So it was working before the update, but not now?

What firmware version was the PanelDue before? What version is it now?

What firmware version is the Duet?

How are you connecting it to the Duet? 4-wire or ribbon cable?

Which hardware version of paneldue is it?

Which firmware bin file did you use specificall?

@phaedrux Correct it was working before.

It had version 1.23 I think on it?

          Its now 3.2.11

          Duet has version 3.2.2

Im connecting via the 4 wire's just as I was before.

The hardware version says its v3.0a on the back

          I used PanelDueFirmware-v3-7.0.zip from here https://github.com/Duet3D/PanelDueFirmware/releases

It works fine when powered from USB all touch controls work etc. But when I unplug the USB and install the 4 wire connector and turn on the printer I get nothing.

          I double checked and I have M575 P1 S1 B57600
          In my config.g

I made very sure when I was removing the panel not to mess around with any connectors etc.

But I just get nothing when the printer starts.

Is it a 7i (as in integrated)? Or does it have the separate PCB connected to the display?

Can you check the wiring harness to verify that you're still getting voltage at the paneldue end?

@phaedrux It is a separate board. Theres a green board that plugs into a blue display. I've checked with my multimeter on the board when not attached the the panel and its getting 5v.

When I attach it to the panel and test the pins it goes down to 1v.

If I take it off and plug into USB it turns on fine.

This leads my to think a config is wrong somewhere, like whatever is telling it to turn on... isnt.

Can you post the results of M122 and your full config.g?

I've checked with my multimeter on the board when not attached the the panel and its getting 5v.
When I attach it to the panel and test the pins it goes down to 1v.

Can you show exactly where you're testing? I suspect it comes down to the cable. Bad crimp possibly.

Okay I actually got that wrong. Im testing the voltage on the back of the PanelDue v3 board at the 5v and Gnd pins and its reading 1.5v.

This seems a bit low to me. Its hard to test the pins on the cable directly as they are recessed. I've checked the cable going into the duet and it seems to be seated fine.

Could it be a crappy crimp would show a voltage drop?

Even if the 5V wire was missing completely, you would still get a small voltage (maybe as much as 1.5V) by phantom power from the data wires. So yes, it may be caused by a bad crimp.

Okie dokie ill try and inspect the crimps then and see what the dealio is. I dont have a crimping kit for those particular connectors but I assume Duponts would suffice?

                            In a pinch.

@phaedrux So I tested the cables and all read 0.3ohms... apart from the red one which read 3 ohms.. Im going to try to see if I can remove just that one and re crimp it. I guess it means the voltage drops too much to power the panel. I might has somehow yanked it loose when I was removing the panel doh.

Sorry for the late reply, been side tracked. So basically cutting the cable and re crimping the end that plugs into the panel solved the issue. I went with duponts as they are easier to remove. Issue resolved.
