      Hello all,

I'm looking for suggestions on adding a NeJe laser to the custom 3d printer I'm nearing completion on. The printer is an IDEX machine using duet 3 5mini+ with 1lc tool boards controlling each hotend. The hotend mounts are changeable via a quick manual process and I was thinking adding a 3rd toolboard for the laser to swap in for the U tool when needed.

After reading some of the posts here about lasers, I'm not convinced its worth the effort. It seems a better solution might just to make a purpose built machine with a purpose built controller. I have a bunch of spare parts from making this printer and my cnc machine.

Would anyone like to share their advice??

      Thanks in advanced

@make_shake99 It's OK for occasional wood engraving, but it produces a lot of dust.
For regular cutting I'd build a dedicated machine.

@o_lampe Thanks for the feedback, I didn't think about the dust.

Could you use something similar the dust collector / cutter shroud part from the E3D ASMBL tool with the laser?

That would both provide some protection from reflections and allow you to use a vacuum collector for dust removal, to keep the cutting area clean.
