Extruder stopped working
-
Ok, I am at a loss here. I was printing fine this morning and went to start another print this afternoon and the extruder is making a hell of a racket and not moving. I thought maybe one of wires came loose so I have pulled them and checked each one and checked continuity from the board all the way to the stepper motor and all is fine. I have not made any changes to where the wires go so wires in the wrong order should not be the problem.
What am I missing? Short of making a completely new cable what else could be wrong? -
What sort of a "racket"? Is it trying to turn but just grinding away at the filament because of a blockage?

It is like the motor is trying to turn but can't and is just clicking really loudly with no movement. I can see the extruder gear and it is not turning at all. I think I am going to make a new cable and see if that makes a difference. Perhaps one of the wires is bad but good enough to show that it has continuity.

Could you assembly be jammed?
I would take the extruder appart, clean it, test the motor and if everything works reassemble. -

That sounds like a blocked hot end to me. Suggest you heat up the hot end, retract all the filament from the extruder, then try running it. i.e extrude with no filament loaded and see if that makes a difference.
