I don't know of a better place to post this request. I'm sure there are places, but I don't know where they are.

My wife accidentally recorded over the only recording she has of her deceased mother. This is on a microcassette.

I've done research and found the only likely rescue is that the record head of the original device and the erase head of the current device may not be entirely aligned and that there might be a small sliver of a track left to be recovered.

Does anyone, have any lead, no matter how flimsy, on how to attempt to recover this or a service that can try to do this for me?

I've tried googling for all sorts of things and just haven't been able to find it.

Try contacting a few places that advertise audio tape restoration & see if any of them can help, or know a specialist who can?

It would take some extremely specialised and likely custom made equipment; and a lot of luck.

        Try these, to start with?
