    Configuring NEMA 23 on a DUET 2 WIFI

      Hi there,

      I'm currently building a CNC with a DUET 2 WIFI and NEMA 23 Steppers (23HD86001Y-21B).

      I've tested most of the features with NEMA 17 and all worked fine.

      Switching to NEMA 23 (with relevant settings (a priori) Steppers are quiet noisy, with a "Phase A might be disconnected" in addition. Moreover if move is above 5cm direction of move is lost, and stepper behavior becomes random, going whatever direction "it decides".

      I've calcultated on RepRapFirmware NEMA 23 settings thus applying them as advised.

      I clearly did not succeed in several attemps to vary motor settings parameters.

      I'm a bit lost... The 4 NEMA's behave the same way.

        the datasheet says 3 A for the stepper, the setting for M906 shall be about 60 to 80% of that, so a setting of about 1800 to 2400 would be the value to be set, because Duet 2 Wifi has a maximum of 2.4 A. I would make sure the board is cooled enough. (probably the backside of the board needs to be cooled)

        I would also check that the wiring is correct in advance, e.g. checking the pairwise wiring. There is also documentation how to do this (measuring with an ohmmeter or by hand).           Hi Joerg,

          Many thanks for your quick answer.

          I've tested the 2400mA. Does not change much. Behaviour remains the same. Maybe a little bit less noisy.

          About wiring, you are right. My steppers do not respect standard colors. That was one of the first checks I've done so far.

          Carrying on with the reading of articles you've advise me to do so.

            @Stef64Fr good luck to find the reason. I hope you'not damaged your board, you can make M122 to check the driver status with steppers where you know they work. I've no other idea what you can check.
