      Hi,

I have a Duet 3 HC and I need one extra stepper driver. What options are there? I do not need or want all the extras that come with the duet 3 expansion board.

      Thanks
      Joel

@Joel do you mean that you have a Duet 3 main board 6HC? If so then the simplest way to add just one stepper driver is to add a tool board TOOL1LC provided that the motor current needed by the motor is within the capability of the tool board.

@Joel Assuming you mean you have a Duet Mainboard 6HC, this has no on-board external driver pins. You will need to use a CAN bus connected expansion board. As @dc42 says, you can use a Duet 3 Toolboard 1LC, which has an onboard stepper driver, or Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL, which has a larger onboard stepper driver and also offers closed loop control. Alternatively, you can use a Duet 3 Expansion 1XD to provide signalling for an external driver.

For more info on connecting external drivers, see https://docs.duet3d.com/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Motors_connecting_external

I do mean the Duet 3 main board 6HC. I will look at the methods suggested.

            Thanks
