Fan tach input as endstop input

Is it possible to use a fan tach input as an input for a limit switch? The specific board I'm curious about is the 1LC, though in general, is this ok to do? In my case I just want to use it as a simple microswitch input, connecting out1.tach to ground in an NC configuration.
