I noticed on the discord that you are working on an updated toolboard; I find searching or anything actually on discords a bit frustrating so thought I'd ask on the more sedate Duet3D forums..

Will the new toolboard be compatible with the older, if not will the firmware for the earlier still be updated for awhile? And how long before V2 appears? Thinking of adding 2 more toolboards and wonder if the newer one is coming soon and if so is it worth waiting for.

Also, any chance of getting gpio18 or gpio19. named if we do get new firmware for the V1.0's? It having 4 IO ports + the BLtouch port for 5 IO port would be wonderful.

@KenW I can answer all those.

        • We will continue to release firmware files for the current one so there's no issues there.
        • There will also not be any compatibility issues between the old and the new. They will essentially be the same toolboard with just a few extra tricks.
        • Not sure when the new version will be out but it'll more than likely be the new year as theres some firmware work to be done.
        • @gloomyandy has already added names for GPIO18/19 ready for the next firmware release whenever that is.

Whether the new toolboard becomes the RRF36-V2 is another thing though. I would more likely expect it becomes the SHT36-V3 due to its dual compatibility with klipper

Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is

@KenW and just to add further, GPIO18 and GPIO19 won't be available to use on the latest revision as they will be used by z scanning probe.
I'm currently looking to see if anything else can be made available
