M117 messages popping up at odd times

I have a message (M117) that I display as part of a macro. This message keeps popping up in DWC even when the macro is not run. It's as if it is an 'un-dead' or 'zombie' message .... just popping up here or there at odd times even if the macro that calls the message is not run.
It's not the end of the world but it definitely is annoying.
