Motor drive overheating with no motor connected
-
Preliminary Information:
• Core XY with four motors
• Duet 6CH
• 48V power supply
• Good cooling for the controller
• Extruder motor current: 0.7AProblem:
After about a month, my extruder output stopped working.
The print completed successfully, but afterwards, the error message “Temperature Warning Output 5” was displayed. Now, the motor can no longer be controlled, and no signal can be measured at the controller. If I disable the controller cooling, the output overheats within seconds, even though no motor is connected.
The motor itself works fine, and the latest firmware version is installed.
What can I do now?
Thank you very much for your help!

Temperature Warning Output 5
Do you mean driver 5?

You mean the driver chip gets very hot immediately?
