Rebuilding a BLV MGN 3 screw Z axis Duet 2 Wifi Board
-
Hi there everyone,
Looking at purchasing a new board, the Duet 3 6HC and whatever expansion board I need to get my machine back up and running. I had so many heating errors, motion system issues, etc, on this BLV that I want to overhaul the whole thing, install the Ben Levi CNC kit, and a new motherboard. I could no longer connect to the machine via wifi after flashing the firmware and I gave up.
I'd like to use an Eddy Probe for bed scanning and I'm wondering if you guys have suggestions on which expansion board I should get and or if the 6HC is still the best fit for this machine. I'm also planning on using a Slice Engineering mosquito and Bond Tech LGX extruder and not sure if there is anything I need to know about compatability on that front. Thanks! AAron

I would go with the 6HC assuming it's drive capabilities can handle your steppers. I have two of them in use and are quite happy with them.
Have you considered the E3D Revo line of products? I have used the Revo Hemera XS, the Revo Roto and the Revo Micro which needs an external extruder device. I used the LDO Orbiter.
They are not the cheapest but being able to swap nozzles with no tools is a good feature. And they have a good selection of nozzles.
I've got a box full of the older style, the type using a cartridge heater and temp sensor in a chunk of metal that are bound for the dumpster.
Does the Eddy device work with the Duet 3 firmware? I had not heard of that device. I went with the Duet 3 Scanning Z Probe (SZP) which works just fine AND includes an accelerometer on the little PC board.
Currently the SZP doesn't work as a typical Z probe but they are working on it. I went with the old but reliable BLTouch.
