Extruder motor shutters but doesnt really turn

  • When I try to activate my Extruder motor just to test it. Its just makes noise and shutters. I've heated the hot end up to 200. This motor is different then the rest on my printer so following their color scheme for the wiring is not necessarily the same. The motor I have is 17HS10-0704S. I was not able to find a wiring diagram for it on google so I am hoping some one on here will have an idea. Maybe its something in my config file as well not sure. I will post it just to make sure:
    Thank you

The first thing to do is power off the Duet, disconnect the stepper motor from the Duet and check that it is phased correctly:

    • If you have a multimeter, check that there is continuity between pins 1 and 2 on the 4-pin connector that plugs in to the Duet, and between pins 3 and 4, but no continuity between 1 or 2 and 3 or 4.

    • If you don't have a multimeter, first feel how easy it is to spin the spindle between your fingers. Then short pin 1 to pin 2 on the connector that plugs into the Duet. If pins 1 and 2 are connected to the same phase, it will be much harder to spin the spindle with those pins shorted together.

  • Yes there is continuity between pins 1 and 2 and there is continuity between pins 3 and 4 but not between any other combination

In that case, the problem could be a faulty driver on the Duet. With power off, try connecting the motor to the E1 motor output instead of E0, and put this command in config.g just before your M350 command:

    M584 X0 Y1 Z2 E4

  • My apologies DC42 I was testing the wrong motor when I was testing for continuity. There was a bad connection on the wires. Im just doing an actual test print now. I think im good. Thank you yet again for pointing me in the right direction

Looks like your connection to Duet3D was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
