      Hello,

I am attempting to use a set of EE-SX671 Omron optical switches for my X/Y/Z endstops. The EE-SX671s require 5-24 volts to operate and the DuetWifi is happy with 3.3 volts.

      http://www.ia.omron.com/data_pdf/cat/ee-sx47_67_ds_e_13_2_csm483.pdf

I have provided a sketch of my idea using a bi-directional logic level converter to interface the 5 volt optical switches with the Duet.

Is this a safe way to connect to the Duet Wifi? or, Should I use the expansion header instead?

      Please advise.

If you are using the NPN open collector output model, there is an easier way. Connect - to endstop GND, + to +5V from the expansion connector, and OUT to STP on the endstop connector. No need for level shifters.

          Thanks David,
          That does simplify the setup.
