This is a low priority request.

Currently G31 returns the probe status when called with no parameters.

it would be helpful if G31 could return the configured parameters if some switch was used (e.g. P-1 by itself?) This would bring it into line with other gcodes that return what is set when used with no parameters.

+1! Sometimes, I experiment with different probe trigger heights by using G31, and sometimes I forget what I set last, so a way to check would be nice.

I agree, the behaviour of G31 is a bit of an anomaly. Suggestions welcome.

Is consistency a requirement? Is there software that would break if G31 by itself changed to report the recorded values? Of course there would have to be some other way to find out about the probe status, perhaps G31 P-1.

I guess G31 could return the configured values AND the current probe reading.

Yes I think a switch so as to not break the normal output might be useful, although I am not aware of anything that relies on the output of G31 directly there may well be.
