Just wondering if we can use 5V Fans on the effector or not?

I am guessing yes but the LEDs would be dim.

Just wanted to check before spending the cash on what tend to be quite expensive fans.

If you used a 5V fan for the heatsink fan then the LEDs probably wouldn't light at all. No problem with using a 5V print cooling fan.

it was the heatsink fan in particular but I can live without the LED's abhor maybe there is a work around by adjusting a resistor or two but i wouldn't what to change either.

          But thanks for the info

Hi Doug my mod is connect the leds in parallel with the heater not the fans then you get a visual representation of the heater status. Quite bright even when maintaining temp, they don't flicker the pwm frequency is high enough.

I assume likewise that the 12v fan would be okay too then? I got a Noctua 12v without thinking about it for cooling fan and I have a 24v hotend/psu. I have a step down to 12v accessible but would like to use the effector if possible.

Yes you can use 12V fans on the effector, with the 12V jumper fitted to provide sufficient current to the LEDs.

Oh okay so the 12v jumper doesn't affect the hotend then?

The 12V jumper just shorts out part of the series resistance for the LEDs. The LED string + series resistors are connected in parallel with the hot end fan.

Awesome! That's great design - can't wait to get the everything setup on my big delta.
