Clarification on rod length

Pretty sure not, it'll be to "centres", and as the ball sits roughly half way into the socket, you just use the overall length of the arms.

Ok, thanks. There must be another reason why my test print of a 20mm cube comes out to be 22.6mm for X and 22.6mm for y.

I think Haydn measures them by placing high grade 3/8th bearings into the ends, measuring with calipers then removing 3/8th of an inch from the total length.

he does so the length marked on them when they arrive is the centre to centre length and is what needs to be in your M665 line as the L parameter.

Good, that is what I entered. That eliminates one variable.

Check that your steps/mm settings for the towers are correct (M92 command in config.g).

and don't use 7 or 9 factor calibration stick to 6 or 8 (7 and 9 will adjust the L param to get best fit which may cause the part to come out the wrong size) I generally use S8 for the Cal factor setting.

Agreed 8 factor is the way forward. I have adjusted the rod length to scale parts. I tried the part scaling Mcode but got slightly warped parts. I need to recheck check my steps/mm as I have new belts.

Using 1.8 degree motor, 20 tooth pulley, gt2 belt comes to 80 which is what I have.

Still trying stuff.80 sounds correct, but I suggest you check it by first checking that Z=0 has the nozzle just touching the bed, then commanding the nozzle to e.g. Z=200 and checking that it really is 200mm above the bed.
